DESCRIPTION: This highly visible position reports to the Global Product Manager, PDM Solutions and will be responsible to help guide the direction of SolidWorks product data management software. Interfacing with all internal departments inside SolidWorks, this position also has the responsibility to lead positioning and specifying of software products related to data management. Product data management includes, but is not limited to the management of data between design teams, understanding of process and ECO/ECN management, and a working understanding of integration scenarios with ERP systems. This position is ideal for an experienced designer or engineer with experience selling, implementing, or administrating document control systems. Travel is expected to range from 10-25%.
• Develop product vision, message and positioning.
• Identify and drive product gaps and new opportunities based on cost/benefit analysis and thorough business case justification
• Serve as the central resource with design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing as the products move to completion and distribution.
• Interface with customers and prospects to directly understand their needs and how future products may address these needs
• Market research and data gathering through analyst reports, trade press, and surveys.
• Generate materials that clearly articulate the advantages of SolidWorks product data management solutions
• Speaker for the product by representing the PDM applications to the market such as analysts, tradeshows and other events.
• Organize and participate speaking opportunities and promotional events
MINIMUM EXPERIENCE: 1 to 3 years experience as a product manager, applications engineer or marketing programs manager with a proven track record of successful product launches preferably in product data management.
EDUCATION: BSME, MBA preferred.
REQUIREMENTS: This position is ideal for an experienced designer or engineer with experience selling, implementing, or administrating document control systems Knowledge of existing PDM/PLM tools is required. Also knowledge of existing computer-aided design tools is preferred. Prior technical sales or product management experience required. Strong communication skills are also required ranging from the ability to present to large groups of customers to smaller groups of senior management.

• Proven ability to communicate ideas with excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong knowledge of competitive products and markets
• Excellent overall knowledge of PDM/PLM markets
• Strong background in data management industry needs. FDA requirements experience is a plus
• Working knowledge of related technologies such as CAD and ERP
• Working knowledge of enabling technologies, such as the Internet, office applications, etc.
